The Westfield football team hosted a camp for young players Wednesday night at Grand Park, close by the Colts Camp Kickoff. Shamrocks coach Jake Gilbert is pictured here talking with the campers. Westfield also invited players from Indianapolis Public Schools to participate in the camp, where they also played with local police officers. Colts coach Frank Reich and quarterback Andrew Luck spoke to the kids as well.
“The camp was excellent,” said Gilbert. “It served as a great opportunity on many levels. The police ran the drills and allowed kids from Westfield and kids from inner city Indianapolis to see the officers in a much different light than what is often portrayed on TV. All interactions were extremely positive. All kids had fun and we even heard from Coach Reich and Andrew Luck. Every kid received a lunch, a T-shirt, and a bag from Gatorade. The Colts are a first-class organization. We are so fortunate to have them here in our own backyard!
