The city of Noblesville has announced that Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is working on State Road 32 (Conner Street) in downtown Noblesville between 10th and 16th streets.
Motorists may see safety installations (barrels, cones, signage) placed outside of that area, but the scope of the work zone is SR 32.
INDOT will be milling (removing) four inches of existing asphalt and replacing it with approximately 1,800 tons of new asphalt surface. Due to the depth of the milling (which provides for better cohesion and durability of the new asphalt), INDOT needs to close the roadway for safety to the traveling public and INDOT workers.
INDOT’s intent is for eastbound work to occur today and Friday (weather permitting) with it open to traffic for the weekend. This will require a closure of local side streets. For the westbound traffic, INDOT will work on westbound lanes Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week with the local side streets north of SR 32 closed.
In a statement issued by the city of Noblesville, officials said, “INDOT has apologized for the lack of proper communication leading up this project and understands the concern it has caused in the city and community.”
