Attorney General Curtis Hill announced on Monday that the amount of prescription medication collected at 2018 drug takeback events sponsored by his office has surpassed 2,000 pounds. This tally represents drugs collected at 16 different events at locations around the state.
“Our communities are safer as a result of people’s willingness to rid their medicine cabinets of prescription drugs they no longer want or need,” Hill said. “We will continue to alert Hoosiers to the importance of this endeavor as part of our overall effort to combat the drug crisis, and we will continue to hold events across the state to serve this purpose.”
Working with the Carmel Police Department, staff from the Office of the Attorney General collected 35 pounds of medication at an event on Monday at a Hamilton County Kroger store. That result brought this year’s total to 2,013 pounds.
Additional drug takeback events are planned this week.
