The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Heat Advisory for Hamilton County, which is in effect from 2 p.m. today until 8 p.m. Saturday.
High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s, with peak heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees.
There will be an increased risk of heat stress and heat illness for everyone, but especially among vulnerable populations, such as the very young, the elderly, the infirm, those without access to air conditioning and those spending significant time outdoors. Pets are also susceptible to heat illness. Heat illnesses can occur very quickly. Additionally, car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
