The City of Carmel’s new bicycle safety mascot will be making its appearance soon. Named Spokes, the mascot will be a person in a costume which resembles a friendly dog dressed in largely blue and gold attire. But, Spokes is not intended to look like a Greyhound, the longtime Carmel High School mascot.
Spokes will attend various community events promoting bike safety on the city’s roads and trails. He (or she) will be a paid performer under the direction of a handler, both of whom are yet to be named. Carmel’s office of community relations promises more information soon on details of the plans for Spokes including how to apply for the job.
