Jocelyn Bruch ran away with the championship at the Country Club of Terre Haute on Thursday.
The Westfield junior-to-be made four birdies over her last eight holes during the third round of the Girls State Junior Championship, which took place Thursday. That lifted her to the title, as she finished first with a three-day score of 218, two over par for the tournament.
In that third round, Bruch totaled five birdies. Her first was on the sixth hole. Bruch then knocked in three in a row on holes 11, 12 and 13, before getting her final birdie of the day on the 16th hole. Overall, Bruch was three-under for the round with a score of 69, making hers the only under par round of the tournament.
Bruch wound up the winner by nine shots. Zionsville’s Annabelle Pancake finished second with a score of 227. Evansville’s Faith Johnson and Tipton’s Emma Kelly tied for third with 228s.
Gabriella Gilrowski, a junior-to-be at Guerin Catholic, finished in sixth place with a 230. Gilrowski shot a 74 for her third round, including an eagle on the sixth hole. Gilrowski finished that par-five hole in three.
