Do you have an HNPL library card? If so, you’re eligible to participate in HNPL’s 2018 Summer Reading Program.
Those who work in the library believe libraries rock all the time, but beginning June 1, libraries really rock – with Libraries Rock Summer Reading. From that day, everyone from birth to “I quit counting my age 20 years ago” may sign up to participate in the Libraries Rock Summer Reading Program.
Hamilton Heights Middle School students may count their school summer reading books toward Libraries Rock reading, too. E-versions of books on the list are available through HNPL electronic resources. View them together at this link.
Sign up, choose age-appropriate books, read, fill out the log page and have one of the friendly library staff members initial the log. As in past programs, incentive prizes are awarded at the completion of each level, with additional reading earning a ticket eligible for a raffle drawing at the end of Libraries Rock.
Sprinkled throughout this summer’s program are entertaining events for various ages. At 6:30 p.m. on June 4, HNPL-Cicero hosts a book discussion on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, in conjunction with our Year of Frankenstein “One State/One Story” celebration of the novel’s 200th anniversary.
What summer reading program is complete without the energetic and effervescent Professor Steve? He returns to HNPL on Wednesday, June 6, to present his new “Super Sonic Sound Show.” The family-friendly show begins at 3 p.m. in Atlanta and 6 p.m. in Cicero. Professor Steve rocks the house, so be sure to get it on the calendar.
Other programs debuting soon include but not limited to the following events:
- Bid Euchre
- Build a Creature
- Teen and Adult Printing Workshop
- Rockin Together Magic Show
See all the events on the HNPL calendar and check throughout the summer for added events.
