‘Late Night on Main’ returns to Carmel

Are you ready for a late night street party in the Carmel Arts & Design District? Join the City of Carmel tonight from 9 p.m. to midnight for the first of four “Late Night on Main” events on Main Street. The City will shut down the block just east of Range Line Road to make way for musical entertainment from LemonWheel, dancing in the street and enjoying the eats and treats from local vendors who will be staying up late with everyone.

Brainard

“Spring has finally arrived and there are few better places to be on a Friday night than in the heart of the Carmel Arts & Design District. We created these late night events in the District to boost our night life entertainment and bring people together to share music, dining and a little shopping in a unique setting,” said Mayor Jim Brainard. “These events are also a great opportunity for visitors to check out the many new developments underway along the Monon Greenway and Midtown … big projects they may not notice if they only drive through or have not visited recently.”

With the goal of bringing more attention to different sections of Main Street again this year, the Late Night on Main events will be moved east and west on Main Street throughout the year. Patrons on the patios of Woody’s Library Restaurant and Agave Mexican Grill will have front row seats to the show.

This means Main Street from Range Line Road to 1st Avenue NE/SE will be closed Friday beginning about 3 p.m. so preparations can be made, including the placement of a stage for the band. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic around the closure. Plan for extra time Friday evening if your commute includes Main Street.

Mark your calendars for upcoming Late Night on Main events July 7, Aug. 18 and Oct. 5.
