University won its regular-season finale on Monday, beating Scecina 12-6.
The Trailblazers led from the start, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Dawson Estep got the first run, after Garrett Hill reached on error. Brock Moore’s base hit to left field sent Hill home. Later, Asher Thompson smacked a center field double to score Ben Ewer and Tyler Galyean.
Ewer hit a second-inning single to get Hill in for his second run of the game. In the third inning, Estep’s sacrifice fly scored Thompson, then Hill doubled in Ryan Williams.
Ewer scored again in the fourth inning on an error, then Galyean’s right field single got Cade Carlson home. In the fifth inning, Estep singled in Williams, then Moore’s double got Estep home. Ewer scored on a Galyean single in the seventh inning; it was Ewer’s third run of the day.
Hill and Galyean both had three hits, while Moore, Ewer and Carlson all had two. Moore pitched four innings for the win.
University finished the regular season 23-5 and will host Bethesda Christian on Thursday in a sectional semi-final game at RoundTripper Academy.
