Shamrocks fall to McCutcheon
Westfield dropped a 5-1 game at McCutcheon on Wednesday.
The Shamrocks scored their run in the fourth inning, when Zach Collins batted in Matthew Meyer with a left field hit. Collins and Kyle Pepiot both finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate.
“We didn’t play poorly tonight, but we didn’t play really well either,” said Westfield coach Ryan Bunnell. “Zab (Zach Zaborowski) didn’t have his best stuff tonight, but he battled and then Tyler Smitherman and Eli Patchett entered and did a really nice job in relief.
“Offensively, we just didn’t do too much. I didn’t think we had enough quality at bats, we certainly didn’t put much pressure on them that’s for sure. It was a fairly close game but it felt like more than a four-run deficit. Doug has a nice club, they are tough to beat. We’re still searching for consistency and time is running out for us.”
The ‘Rocks are 11-13 and play at the Grand Park Invitational this weekend.
