Hamilton Heights won an all-county game with Sheridan 5-1 Monday at Biddle Park.
The Huskies were on top from the beginning, scoring three times in the first inning. Adyson Baber batted in the first run, a single to score Bayleigh Runner. Aliyah Dorsey was next, with a left field hit to send Hayley Greene home. Baber then scored on an error.
The Blackhawks got on the board in the fifth inning, when Caitlin Neese hit a solo home run. Heights scored two more runs in the sixth inning, when Baber’s single got Runner and Jessica Kaurich home.
Taylor Ewing was 3-for-4 at the plate, with Runner, Baber and Dorsey all getting two hits. Dorsey and Jesse Nomdo both hit a double. Baber got a complete-game pitching win, striking out six.
Neese and Cassie Vargas both had two hits for Sheridan.
On Tuesday, Heights overwhelmed Heritage Christian 19-1. Bayleigh Runner was 3-for-4 at the plate, batting five runs. Hayley Greene hit a home run, totaling three RBIs.
Meredith Diller hit a triple as part of a 2-for-2 night, with Sydney Massicotte and Kelsie Albright both getting a double. Taylor Ewing had two hits and passed the 100-hit mark for her career. Ewing also scored three runs.
Albright pitched three innings for the win.
Sheridan dropped a 15-8 game at Tipton on Tuesday. The Blue Devils led 8-0 midway through the fourth inning before the Blackhawks got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Addyson Ream batted in the first run, sending Audrey Reed home. Nixon Williams then sent a double into center field to score Vargas.
Sheridan scored four runs in the fifth inning: Reed singled in Katy Crail, then Ream’s double got Neese and Allie Delph home. Vargas got Reed home with an RBI groundout. Reed hit a two-RBI single in the sixth inning, scoring Crail and Delph.
Ream finished the game 3-for-4, while Reed and Vargas were both 2-for-4; Vargas hit a double.
Millers beats Avon, clinches 2nd in HCC
Noblesville beat Avon 13-3 in five innings on Tuesday to clinch second place in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference.
The Millers scored in each inning. Chloe Tragesser hit three doubles, including two that batted in one run. Overall, Tragesser was 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs.
Abby Brown, Emily Minett and Madison Taylor all hit a home run, with Brown and Ella White both getting one double. Brown was 3-for-3 while White and Julia Furiak each had two hits. Taylor drove in two runs. Brown scored three runs, with Tragesser and White scoring two. Taylor pitched all five innings for the win.
On Monday, Noblesville beat McCutcheon 5-2.
The Millers got a run in the first inning, with Ella White’s right field hit getting Grace Smith home. Noblesville’s other runs came in the fourth inning: Olivia Stinson scored on an error, Chloe Tragesser singled in Kyleigh Lowry, White batted in Tragesser and Smith scored on an error.
White finished the game 3-for-4, while Tragesser was 2-for-3, including a double. Madison Taylor pitched five innings for the win, striking out five and allowing only three hits.
The Millers finished HCC play 5-1 and are 15-10 overall. They will play at North Central on Thursday.
‘Rocks fall to Anderson
Westfield lost a back-and-forth game at Anderson 5-4 on Tuesday.
The Shamrocks started the game with a solo home run from Ashley Swartout in the top of the first inning. The Indians took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first, but Westfield came storming back in the third inning.
Savannah Arvin cracked a three-run triple into right field, sending Alexis McClure, Reghan Oland and Swartout home. With that, the ‘Rocks led 4-3. But Anderson tied the game in the fourth inning and won the game with a walk-off score in the seventh.
Sara Harmeyer hit a double for Westfield.
The Shamrocks are 8-16 and play at McCutcheon on Thursday for their regular-season finale.
