Huskies cruise past Eastern
Hamilton Heights cruised past Eastern 9-4 in a Thursday away game.

Meyer finished the game 3-for-5, while Cross also hit a double. On the mound, Meyer pitched six innings for the win, with Cross closing the game in the seventh.
“It feels really good to play a solid game all the way around,” said Heights coach JR Moffatt. “We have had several games where we hit but didn’t field or vice versa. It’s taken us a while to get all three main areas in sync (hitting, fielding, pitching). We were tremendous in the field tonight. Michael and Luke made great plays up the middle to kill rallies. On top of that we turned two huge double plays. Cole really battled them on the mound. They were a really good hitting team all the way through their lineup. Cole’s a real fighter.”
“We hit the ball harder tonight than any game this year. We had two really good days of practice where we got a lot of swings. I could tell tonight. Some of the outs we made were really well hit. It’s a good time of year to really start swinging it well. We have West Lafayette tomorrow in a conference showdown and then we have five next week getting ready for the sectional.”
Heights is 10-8 and will host West Lafayette at 6 p.m. tonight in the Hoosier Conference crossover game.
