The Hamilton Southeastern girls tennis team won its Senior Night meet on Thursday, beating No. 28 Mount Vernon 4-1.
The No. 8 Royals got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, with senior Ashley Spirrison taking the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-0. Southeastern swept the doubles matches, with No. 1 Jeorgia Templin and Taylor Cleary winning in three sets.
“This was a special night as we got to honor our six sensational seniors: Bethany Dillow, Madhu Rajendra, Jillian Pence, Riya Desai, Ashley Spirrison, and Katelyn Gebhardt,” said HSE coach Kirk Webber. “They have been an amazing group of girls to coach for the last four years. They have been great role models for the younger players. They work hard, have great attitudes, and have been fun to be around and coach. I want to say a special thanks to them and their families for everything they have done for the HSE tennis program. We will definitely miss you next year!”
Southeastern finished the regular season 12-4 and will await Monday’s sectional draw to see who it plays when the tournament begins on Wednesday.
