Noblesville native named Fulbright Postgrad Scholar

Stanley Schwartz of Noblesville, a senior at Cedarville University, has been selected as a 2018 Fulbright Postgraduate Scholar. Schwartz will be studying at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia, for the next coming year.

He is currently serving as the president of the Cedarville chapter of Tau Delta Kappa Honor Society, serves on the American Enterprise Institute Executive Council, studied abroad at Oxford and is a member of Delta Mu Delta, the International Honor Society for business programs. Schwartz will be graduating summa cum laude from Cedarville on May 5, with degrees in History and Economics with a concentration in Political Economy.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Schwartz will be researching history in Australia, working under a professor at ANU and completing a project to understand intra-party political and ideological dynamics in early 20th century English socialism.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends approximately 800 American scholars and professionals per year to approximately 130 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to build lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright Program has given more than 380,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, professionals and scientists the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.

Stanley is the son of Jim and Jodi Schwartz of Noblesville. Locally, he has been a player/coach for a combined 11 years with the Northside Lions Homeschool Basketball Team, served as a Blood Drive Coordinator through the Indiana Blood Center for four years – organizing quarterly blood drives at Harbour Shores Church which benefitted Hamilton County and enjoyed working summers at Spencer Farms.
