In an all-county softball matchup, Fishers beat Guerin Catholic 12-0 in five innings on Thursday.
The Tigers scored five runs in the first inning and steadily built their lead from there. Fishers added three more runs in the second inning and another four in the third, including a three-run home run from Courtney James, who finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
James hit two doubles. The first was in the first inning, and she was immediately sent home on a Diane Abbott base hit. James’ second double came in the second inning, and it scored Olivia Latimer, who had just hit her own double to get on base.
Fishers had a set of back-to-back doubles in the first inning as well, with Caroline Bernhardt hitting her two-base hit first, then going home on Jade Frye’s two-RBI double. Hannah Mays also scored.
Alexis Hall pitched all five innings, striking out four and allowing just four hits. Tigers coach Bridget Langan-Puckett said her team played “really great” in the win.
“It’s really nice, too, when your lineup’s contributing,” said Langan-Puckett. “Everybody was hitting, multiple people drove in runs, everybody was playing well. Alexis Hall hit her spots really nicely. So it’s really nice to come out here and watch everyone do their job and just get a nice, solid win as a team.”
Bernhardt and Frye both finished with two hits, with Frye driving in three runs.
Madelyn Buckner had two hits for Guerin Catholic, including a first-inning double.
Fishers is 11-6 and hosts Carmel on Monday. The Golden Eagles are 4-7 and welcome University today for a 5 p.m. game.
