Tennis: Royals win all-county meet, ‘Rocks edge Lebanon

Hamilton Southeastern beat Guerin Catholic 4-1 Thursday in an all-county tennis dual meet.
All of the matches were decided in straight sets. The No. 9-ranked Royals got wins in both doubles positions and at Nos. 1 and 2 singles; Ashley Spirrison took No. 2 singles.
“She played an inspired match,” said HSE coach Kirk Webber. “After winning a very close first set that had some epic points of 30-plus shot rallies, Ashley then cruised in the second set, winning the match 7-5, 6-1.”
Madelyn Filer took the No. 3 singles match for the Golden Eagles’ win.

No. 1 singles: Audrey De Witt (HSE) def. Maggie McGuire (GC) 6-1, 6-0
No. 2 singles: Ashley Spirrison (HSE) def. Jenna Patton (GC) 7-5, 6-1
No. 3 singles: Madelyn Filer (GC) def. Madison McFerran (HSE) 6-2, 6-0
No. 1 doubles: Jeorgia Templin and Taylor Cleary (HSE) def. Ellen Gardner and Bailey Beuhnerkemper (GC) 6-0, 6-1
No. 2 doubles: Nikki Hite and Jillian Pence (HSE) def. Shanna Shuler and Audrey Smith (GC) 6-0, 6-2

Westfield won a hard-fought match with Lebanon 3-2 on Thursday.
Maya Raymond and Claire Thurlow clinched the win for the Shamrocks with a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-2. No. 3 singles Maddie Heilmann won 6-0, 6-0 and No. 1 doubles Emma Clary and Kay Zaloudek won 6-4, 6-1.
