Sheridan Water Works announced biannual fire hydrant flushing will begin on Monday, May 7, and end on Friday, May 11.
Sheridan Water Works asks all residents to be aware of the flushing in their areas of town and that some temporary water discoloration could be a possible result.
Hydrant flushing is required periodically to clean the system and water mains. Sheridan Water Works will be flushing between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. during that week.
If customers see a discoloration in their water, they should let their water run at maximum volume for two or three minutes or until the discoloration disappears. Water Superintendent Mark Evoy is asking residents for their patience. It is important that this process be done so our residents can receive the best quality water.
Sheridan Water Works is asking customers to minimize water usage as much as possible during the week of May 7-11.
