Noblesville split two games at its own Miller Invitational on Saturday.
The Millers beat Lawrence Central 9-4 in the first game. The Bears took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. Noblesville got one back in the bottom of the first when Grace Smith cracked a triple to send Abby Brown home
An RBI single moved LC ahead 3-1 in the second. The Millers had to wait until the third inning to get their next runs, but they scored three to take a 4-3 lead. Emily Minett’s left field single scored Brown and Smith, then Ella White got home after Madison Taylor reached on error.
After that, Noblesville slowly added to its lead. In the fifth inning, Abigail Harvey got on base with a double, then Taylor’s double got her home, then Maggie Hampton scored on a wild pitch. The Millers added three more runs in the sixth inning: Chloe Tragesser doubled in Mya Stuckey, then Ella White’s single scored Alyssa Solomon and Smith.
Tragesser, Smith, White and Taylor all finished with two hits. Baily Ryan pitched five innings for the win.
The Millers fell to Plainfield 7-2 in their second game. Noblesville scored both of its runs in the seventh inning; Olivia Stinson hit a one-out double, then Harvey knocked a home run into right field. Brown and Stinson both had two hits.
Noblesville is 9-5 and will host Mount Vernon on Monday.
