Saturday morning The Enclave Senior Living at Saxony, 12950 Tablick St., Fishers, held a ribbon-cutting and open house to help show Hamilton County how this facility is different from how people usually perceive senior living facilities.
The Enclave at Saxony facility was complete in January and is already well on its way to being full.
Enclave at Saxony Executive Director Jan Pegues told The Reporter there are 164 apartments in the community.
“We call them apartments because this is a retirement community,” Pegues said. “We have approximately 60 individuals living here in the community. We have 83 independent living apartments, 49 assisted living apartments and 32 memory care apartments.”

This location is the second Fishers location for Spectrum Retirement Communities. The other is near 116th Street and Allisonville Road.
Spectrum Regional Vice President of Operations Katie Freeland said, “On this side of Fishers there were not a lot of people taking advantage of the new growth that was happening, so we chose to place ourselves here because there is a need.”
Spectrum Vice President of Sales William Swearingen took time to explain what sets the Enclave apart from other senior living facilities and why they see this as a vibrant community.
“One of the great things is we have a full continuum of care,” Swearingen said. “We have the independent living component, the assisted living component and memory care. A resident could move in being more proactive in the early stages of their retirement. Then as needs change – if needs change – they can progress through those additional support elements all the way through to potentially the end of life in a graceful and respectful way.”

Swearingen also spoke about who would be best served by living at the Enclave at Saxony.
“Our product is mainly designed to support that senior who needs some extra independence from a functional independence point of view,” Swearingen said. “This maximizes their ability to continue writing pages in their book and fill their lives with something that is a little more vibrant, allow them the opportunity to stay connected and get the support services they need in the process.”
Because of the growth in this part of Fishers, the location and services offered by the Enclave at Saxony can fill a real need.
“We have subdivisions that are nearby,” Pegues said. “For the sons and daughters that live in those subdivisions – their parents are moving closer and we want to partner with those individuals so they can move into our community and be closer to their families.”

Freeland echoed this sentiment when she said, “It’s the only place that would be home to them. We want them to be home.”
Spectrum Regional Sales Director Kim Goodwin explained that this facility’s apartments feel like homes, including such amenities as full kitchens and washer/driers. “Let us show you how we are different and let us show you why is feels like home,” Goodwin said.
Swearingen said he wants to “peel away the myth” of what people believe senior living looks like.
“Walk through our doors,” Swearingen said, speaking to those who may want to know more. “If there is one thing that we believe in it is that is feels like home. That’s kind of our mantra. And it can be different. Let us show you how.”
