John Charles Holscher

July 24, 1924 – April 26, 2018

John Charles Holscher, 93, Noblesville, passed away on April 26, 2018, at Harbour Manor Health & Living Community, surrounded by his loving family members. He was born July 24, 1924, in Natrona, Pa., to the late John F. and Clara J. (Neupert) Holscher.

John graduated from Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, Pa., in 1942. He served in World War II in the European Theater Operation. John was given an honorable discharge from the 79th Fighter Group 12th Division of the Air Force with the United States Army on December 31, 1945. He graduated from Grove City College, Grove City, Pa., in 1950. John married his college sweetheart, Ruth Elizabeth (Heath) Holscher in McKeesport, Pa., on August 18, 1951. He and his family moved to Noblesville in 1959. John retired in 1985 from Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville from the Accounting/Auditing Department. He was involved with Junior Achievement, Toastmasters and the Noblesville Firestone Retirees Group.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years and his sister, Frances McMeans.

His interests included gardening, in which he took great pride in having the tastiest tomatoes around, feeding the birds, reading, working crossword puzzles and vacationing in Florida. John enjoyed his nightly game shows and his favorite Hallmark movies. He was a good neighbor and friend to everyone he knew. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and loving dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Robert) Forsterling, Kokomo, and Kathy (Hugh) Reynolds, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his son, David Holscher, Covington, Ky.; three grandchildren, Suzanne (David) Wright, Marta (Gabe) Pinheiro, Stephen (Meredith) Reynolds; six great-grandchildren, Jenna, Kaitlyn and Aubrey Wright, Bianca and Sophia Pinheiro and Emilia Reynolds.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 1, 2018, at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
