Sheridan Community Schools embraces & celebrates heart of education during Public Schools Week

Public Schools Week fell on the week of Feb. 24 to 28 this year. Public Schools Week is a time for celebrating and recognizing the vital role that public schools and educators play in shaping communities and the individual future of each student. Sheridan Community Schools takes pride in its commitment to excellence, academic success, and premier programs that are offered.

Sheridan High School (SHS) provides a comprehensive education that serves the various needs of each student. At SHS, students may pursue various educational pathways including college preparation, vocational and general studies. SHS has been recognized for its excellence by being designated as a “Best Buy” school by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Students at SHS benefit from the small class size, individual attention, and dedicated staff, all of which help each student reach their potential in their chosen field of interest.

Sheridan Middle School, which is connected to SHS, enjoys the advantages of close proximity. Along with a staff that is composed of dedicated educators who strive for academic excellence, students have stated that, “Sheridan is a small school where everyone knows and cares about each other.”

Sheridan Elementary School (SES) is dedicated to providing excellent educational opportunities in the classroom that promote and support students as life-long learners. At SES, an Early Childhood program is offered for the younger students, the special education department along with speech and language therapy, and occupational, physical, and adaptive physical education therapy allow students to be successful in any situation. SES also provides a gifted and talented program which facilitates an accelerated learning experience.

All three schools that make up Sheridan Community Schools make true the statement that is often said: “Sheridan is the best-kept secret in Hamilton County.”

During Public Schools Week, Sheridan honors the contributions that public schools and educators have made that highlight the importance of public education in shaping both the community’s and the country’s future. Sheridan provides an education for all, aims to be inclusive, and the teachers go above and beyond to support academic and personal growth. Sheridan prepares students for careers while also promoting community engagement and responsibility. Sheridan unites the community and adapts to the ever-changing needs that prepare students for future success in a changing world.

As Public Schools Week draws to a close, everyone is reminded of the critical role that public schools, including Sheridan, play in shaping individuals and society.
