Westfield Youth Assistance Program’s third annual Christine D. Brown Memorial Scholarship application goes live

The Westfield Youth Assistance Program’s (WYAP) application for the third annual Christine D. Brown Memorial Scholarship is now available at this link.

The Memorial Scholarship is in honor of WYAP Early Intervention Advocate Christine Brown, who passed away in August 2022. Her family, the board of directors, and generous donors have established the Christine D. Brown Memorial Scholarship with one annual $5,002 scholarship. Christine worked with 502 youth over her 10 years with WYAP and touched countless lives in the Westfield community and beyond.

“I’m thankful to Christine Brown for all the opportunities she has given me,” said Reis Middleton, former WYAP youth and winner of the 2024 Christine D. Brown Memorial Scholarship. “And I’m thankful for how the Youth Assistance Program has changed me for the better.”

The annual scholarship is open to all current and former graduates 25 and under who attended Westfield Washington Schools or resided in the township. Prior involvement with WYAP is not a requirement for the scholarship, and a complete list of scholarship eligibility requirements can be found on the scholarship application page.

WYAP has worked for the last 15 years to connect Westfield youth with services like mentoring, tutoring, mental health counseling, medical services, enrichment activities, and more. The scholarship highlights WYAP’s emphasis on giving back to the youth in the Westfield community. This scholarship works to achieve WYAP’s long-term goal of giving youth every advantage to be successful and grow into adults who largely contribute to their community.

The application deadline for the scholarship is Tuesday, April 1. The recipient will be notified by April 20 and invited to attend the WYAP Youth Recognition Breakfast at IMMI on May 7.

Previous Recipients include Ashley Ice (2023) and Reis Middleton (2024).
