The community is invited to attend a special showing of the documentary SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in The Digital Age from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 at the Hamilton Heights High School Auditorium, 25802 State Road 19, Arcadia.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on: Depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.
The movie has been screened more than 6,000 times to over two million people in more than 50 countries around the world. This award-winning documentary explores the impact of screen technology on kids and offer parents and families proven solutions that work. What started out as a personal story for one has grown into a national movement, helping millions of teens and their families navigate growing up in a world with instant access to screens.
In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
“We feel it is important to bring the community together to share the social media and screen time information to our kids and our community members,” said Mary Ann Haymaker, Early Intervention Advocate for Hamilton Heights. “This is a must-see for anyone who wants to create change in a positive direction when it comes to our digitally saturated kids. It provides a powerful message and helpful strategies for helping develop our children into well-adjusted, kind, compassionate, engaging and successful students – at school and in life.”
Hamilton Heights Youth Assistance, Hamilton Heights School Corporation and Hamilton County Leadership Academy are partnering to present this showing of Screenagers. Presenting sponsors include Ace Construction and Remodeling Service, Vondersaar Homes, Inc. and the Hamilton Heights Educational Foundation.
