In a wild all-county softball game, Hamilton Heights held off a furious Fishers rally to win 8-7 Thursday at the Huskies’ field.
Heights scored one run in the first inning, with Hayley Greene’s left field single getting Bayleigh Runner home. The Huskies then poured in six runs in the second inning on five base hits.
“We had a great start to our game tonight on both offense and defense,” said Huskies coach Landi Lockwood.
The score stayed 7-0 until the top of the sixth inning, when Fishers tied it up. But the Huskies were able to get another run in the bottom of the sixth and held on in the seventh for the win.
Heights’ Runner, Greene and Jesse Nomdo all had two hits. Taylor Ewing, Greene, Kelsey Albright and Nomdo each hit one double. Kristi Gordon and Olivia Latimer both got two hits for the Tigers.
Albright went five and one-third innings for the win.
“We held our composure, scored another run in the sixth and fought off another Fishers rally in the top of the seventh. Kelsie Albright did a great job on the mound with her first start this season with Adyson Baber doing a nice job in relief.  We had one rough inning on defense but put together a pretty solid night. Taylor Ewing and Bayleigh runner had a couple of game changing plays that kept us in the game.”
The Huskies host Delta at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Fishers travels to Hamilton Southeastern tonight for the Mudsock game, with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
