Hamilton Southeastern’s boys dropped a close Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener to Avon 51-48 in a Friday home game.
The Royals led 12-10 after one quarter, with Braeden Totten and Lucas Weemer both scoring four points. Southeastern led 24-23 at halftime and were up 36-32 after three quarters, with Totten pouring in eight points during the third. But the Orioles came back in the fourth, scoring 19 points to pull ahead.
Totten finished the game with 21 points, while Weemer scored 13. Totten also collected six rebounds and dished out four assists, while Jack Jacobs pulled five rebounds.
The Royals are 0-2 and play at Marion tonight.
