On Saturday, April 7, the White River Township Volunteer Fire Department held their annual Dan’s Fish Fry. White River Township Trustee Jamie Rulon told The Reporter that 559 meals were served to citizens and community leaders.
“I had a great time seeing old friends and making new ones while helping out our neighbors in White River Township,” Atlanta Clerk-Treasurer and Jackson Township Trustee candidate Robyn Cook told The Reporter.
Servers included Rulon, Cook, Hamilton County Council candidate Mark Hall, Mr. Muffin’s Trains owners Steve Nelson and Liz Foley Nelson, who is a candidate for Jackson Township Board.
“Serving others is the best interview others can ask for,” Hall said. “Influence in lives and culture happens when you first serve someone else.”
Rulon made and donated a quilt to the fire department. Rulon told The Reporter her quilt celebrates fire departments in a very “old-school” way with embroidered symbols related to firefighters dating back to the 1900s. Her quilt will be displayed in the firehouse.
“It was great to see so many members of the community come out and support our fire department. We appreciate their generosity and dedication to helping our department grow and move toward the future,” Rulon said.
Funds raised at the fish fry help pay for fire department expenses not covered by the township.
