Western stops Heights in first Hoosier conference game

Hamilton Heights dropped its Hoosier Conference opener to Western by the score of 3-1 Tuesday at the Huskies’ field.
Heights scored its run in the third inning when Michael Cross scored after a dropped third strike passed ball. Cross had a stolen base earlier in the inning.
Sam Fulton threw six strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
“Sam was terrific for the most part,” said Huskies coach JR Moffatt. “He is a really talented guy. He fought like crazy and gave us an opportunity to be in it at the end with a chance. I told our guys that most of the time good teams don’t blow out good teams. I told them it would be a dog fight and it would more than likely come down to two or three plays. In the end that’s what it was. Two good teams, a close game, two or three plays. They made them, we didn’t. We will get back after it tomorrow. We need to remember to take our bats with us to Western, but we will show up, tomorrow’s a new day.”
The Huskies are 1-2 and play at Western today. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
