Tigers win big at Zionsville

The REPORTER

Fishers cruised to victory in its regular-season finale Friday, beating Zionsville 30-6 in an away Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.

The Tigers put up two touchdowns in the second quarter, with Ryan Thembulembu making a one-yard run to get Fishers on the board. Later, Caden Hill threw a 13-yard pass to Vincent Rozzi, and the Tigers held a 13-0 lead. The Eagles made a last-minute short run to the end zone to cut the lead to 13-6 by halftime.

But Fishers wouldn’t let Zionsville get any closer. Griffits punched the ball in from the one early in the third quarter. Jon Tangara made the extra point kick, as he did after Thembulembu’s score, then kicked a 26-yard field goal later in the third. Brady Griffits finished Fishers’ scoring with a one-yard TD run, with Tangara making the extra point.

Caden Hill had a nice night as quarterback, completing 17 of 26 passes for 284 yards. Thembulembu led the rushing with 91 yards. Owen Folta, TJ Grace and Tristan Johnson all had four tackles.

Fishers finished HCC play at 4-3 and is 5-4 overall. The Tigers are off next week, then travel to Noblesville on Nov. 1 for semifinal action in Class 6A Sectional 4.
