The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announces that acclaimed soprano Angela Brown will narrate Aaron Copland’s poignant work, Lincoln Portrait, during a special performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at The Palladium at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts.

This event promises to be a captivating blend of music and history, celebrating the enduring legacy of President Abraham Lincoln through the lens of one of America’s most celebrated composers.

Brown, known for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence, has garnered international acclaim for her performances in opera and concert. Her ability to convey deep emotion through storytelling makes her the perfect choice to bring Copland’s evocative narrative to life.

Lincoln Portrait combines orchestral music with the powerful words of Abraham Lincoln, creating a profound tribute to unity, freedom, and the American spirit. This unique performance will not only honor Lincoln’s legacy but also inspire audiences to reflect on the ideals he championed.

“We are honored to have Angela Brown join us for this significant work,” CSO Executive Director Anne Marie Chastain said. “Her artistry and passion will undoubtedly elevate the experience for our audience, making it a memorable evening.”

Brown was a featured artist on the two-time Grammy Award-winning recording “Ask Your Mama.” Among her other multiple awards is the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from The Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts.
