Golden Eagles have huge first quarter, blast by Terre Haute North

Guerin Catholic got back to its winning ways on Friday, cruising past Terre Haute North 41-18 in an away game.

The Golden Eagles got out to a great start, leading 21-0 after the first quarter. Malcolm Houze passed for three touchdowns during that period, finding Hayden Cler for two scores and Trevor Macey for one. Nick Wilson kicked all three extra points.

Wilson added two field goals, one each in the second and third quarters, and that kept Guerin Catholic ahead 24-6 at halftime and 27-6 after three periods. Houze got going again in the fourth quarter, making two touchdown runs to close out the game.

Houze had a solid game, going 24 of 32 through the air for 228 yards and rushing for 68 yards. Julian Melendez collected eight passes, with Cler getting six and Macey four. Kolbe Klee led the rushing with 102 yards; GC totaled 253 yards on the ground.

The Golden Eagles are 4-4 and travel to Lafayette Central Catholic next Friday to finish the regular season.
