Millers frighten Bulldogs early, but Brownsburg comes back

Noblesville put an early scare into Class 6A No. 1 Brownsburg on Friday before the Bulldogs came back to win 22-18 at Brownsburg’s Roark Field.

The Millers scored in the first quarter when Ty Holmes punched the ball in from the one-yard line. It was Israel Oladipupo’s turn in the second period, as his one-yard TD run got Noblesville ahead 12-0. Caden Lydle kicked a 37-yard field goal to finish the first half scoring, and the Millers led 15-0 at the break.

Brownsburg came back to tie the game in the third quarter with two passing touchdowns, and a two-point conversion pass knotted the contest at 15-15. Lydle kicked a 22-yard field goal to push Noblesville ahead 18-15, but the Bulldogs made a five-yard touchdown run to retake the lead and held on from there.

Brody Gump led the Millers’ rushing with 115 yards.

Noblesville is 2-6 for the season and hosts Avon next Friday.
