Dale Robert Miller

Dale Robert Miller, 60, Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on August 7, 1964, to Richard “Dick” and Yvonne (Davis) Miller in Gary, Ind.

In 1999, Dale founded Miller Consulting Group, an engineering services company that thrived for 25 years. He was known throughout the industry for being a fair and honest business owner who never sold anything customers didn’t need, and he won awards for Entrepreneur of the Year several times throughout his career. Dale also founded a non-for-profit, The Center of Excellence, an apprentice program for high school kids interested in learning computer-aided design as an opportunity for them to learn a valuable trade.

Dale began playing baseball during his childhood at Junedale Little League in Merrillville and remained a lifelong baseball fanatic and Chicago Cubs fan. He played baseball and wrestled at Merrillville High School, and graduated from there in the class of 1982. He continued to play in a baseball league into his last years of life, and also enjoyed golfing. He also coached baseball for Carmel Dads Club. He never missed a Cubs game.

Dale attended Ball State University, where he majored in telecommunications. There he joined the Lambda Chi fraternity and remained lifelong friends with many of his fraternity brothers.

Dale was also a musician and songwriter whose original songs “Optimistic Blues,” “Cubby Town,” and “Royal Subject” will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. He played guitar every day for the last 20 years of his life and was a member of several bands, including most recently Board Meeting. He loved collecting albums, and his two favorite bands were the Stones and the Allman Brothers. One of his favorite pastimes was singing karaoke in the garage with his wife and kids. Dale was also a history buff who loved reading books about American history and watching classic films on Turner Classic Movies.

Dale had an infectious smile that could light up a room. He was a hilarious and one-of-a-kind person who had a special way of making everyone feel good when they were around him. He loved cracking jokes and playing pranks on his friends, and he always kept a fridge full of beers for anyone who came by. He exuded confidence and understood the value of believing in yourself, but also treated everyone else with kindness and respect. He was Mr. Positive and had an optimistic spirit. He was most proud of being a husband, father, and provider to his family, and he always made them feel safe, secure, and cared for. He touched the hearts of many people over his 60 years of life and he will be dearly missed by those that loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Joell Miller; son, Jack Ryan Miller; daughters, Kristen Yvonne Miller, Ana Michele Campbell, Emily Grace Campbell, mother of Jack and Kristen, and Michelle Traber Roberts; brother, Rick Miller; sister, Karen Miller; niece, Emily Miller; many other nieces and nephews; and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Miller and Doug Miller; and nephew, John Miller.

A Celebration of Life honoring Dale’s memory and legacy will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at Mustard Seed Gardens, 77 Metsker Lane, Noblesville. All who loved him are welcome to stop by at any time during those hours.
