German exchange students über impressed with Noblesville Schools

Students from Usingen, Germany, are visiting Noblesville High School this month as part of a cultural exchange program. The students are staying in Noblesville and attending classes with NHS student hosts and will also visit Chicago and Louisville during their stay in the United States.

The German students met recently with Noblesville Schools superintendent Dr. Dan Hile, NHS Principal Dr. Craig McCaffrey, and Noblesville City Council representative David Johnson.

The students shared some of their early observations about NHS and Noblesville with the leaders, noting how much they are enjoying differences from their experience at home, such as:

• The wide variety of career development, music, athletic, and arts classes offered at NHS
• Modern school facilities with space to accommodate student needs
• Technology tools and resources available to students
• Lovely neighborhoods, homes, and spacious yards

Students also remarked on the use of school buses, as they typically ride bikes to school, and on the wide variety of restaurant options available in Noblesville. One student was excited to have tried a pulled pork sandwich for the first time.

One of the German educators who accompanied the students on the trip said that that they were “highly impressed” with NHS and the school’s focus on knowledge while also supporting student choice, development, and celebration.

The hosting NHS students will get their turn at international travel when they visit Usingen in the summer of 2025.
