Voters in the Carmel area will have an opportunity on April 19 to meet and hear from candidates running in the all-important May 8 Republican Primary.
All candidates for Congressional, state, county and township offices have been invited to appear at the public forum to be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Carmel City Hall council meeting room. Particular emphasis will focus on contested races for state legislature, Superior Court judge, county sheriff, county commissioner, county council and township board. Winners in the Hamilton County GOP primary historically win election in November, thus making the primary of great importance.
Contested primary races feature incumbent Mike Delph and Corrie Meyer for State Senate; Tom Linkmeyer and Jerry Torr for State Representative; and Mike Casati, Will Riley and Jeff Heinzmann for Judge of Superior Court 1.
Also, Bill Clifford, Eddie Moore, Dennis Quakenbush and Mitch Russell for Sheriff; Christine Altman and Matt Milam for Commissioner; Fred Glynn and Sue Maki for Council District 1; Ken Alexander, Sheldon Barnes, Christine Pauley and Rick Sharp for Council District 4; and Paul Bolin, Mary Eckart, Paul Hensel and Matt Snyder for Township Board.
The forum, to be moderated by Abdul-Hakim Shabazz, will include statements from the candidates, followed by questions from the audience and brief closing remarks. Those attending may then meet with the candidates one-on-one with refreshments provided by the Carmel Clay Republican Club and Federation of Republican Women.
