Arthur “Jack” Mendell

November 12, 1952 – April 1, 2018

Arthur “Jack” Mendell, 65, Westfield, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018.

Jack was born on November 12, 1952 to the late Donald and Kathleen Mendell in Aurora, Ind. Jack graduated from Westfield High School. He then drove a semi and was a CDL examiner for 10 years. For 30 years he was an electronics technician and retired from Midwest Systems & Services in 2015. He became a ham radio operator while in high school and eventually held the highest class license. He learned to play acoustic guitar in high school and it became a lifelong passion to sing, play guitar and jam with his friends. He loved spending time with family and watching his grandchildren grow up. He was also a nature lover.

Jack leaves behind his wife of almost 40 years, Linda Mendell. Jack is also survived by two sons: Eddie (Amy) and Todd (Susan) Yant; three grandchildren: Zach (Lena) Yant, Shae (Luke) Barker and Zane Yant; great-grandchildren: Violet and Silas Barker, Rylan and Lochlan Yant; siblings: Georgia Marcum, Donald (Carolyn) Mendell and Michael (Claudia) Mendell; and three nieces and five nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Kathleen Mendell, grandson Kory Yant, and brother-in-law, Bill Marcum.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at noon on Saturday April 7, 2018, at Sheridan Church of God, 707 W. 2nd St., where family and friends are invited to gather from 11 a.m. till time of services. A luncheon will be provided following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sheridan School Band and Orchestra, or to the Sheridan Elementary School Library in Jack’s memory. Online condolences can be made at fisherfunerals.com. Fisher Family Funeral Services is honored to serve the Mendell family.
