Noblesville Library celebrates successful “Party in the Plaza” event

Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) held its first “Party in the Plaza” event last week at the Noblesville Library to kick off National Library Card Sign-Up month. The event took place in the outdoor youth services space and welcomed around 125 community members of all ages.

“Party in the Plaza” began with a special story time presented by HEPL’s guest of honor, Noblesville Schools Superintendent Dr. Hile, and was followed by an energetic musical performance by Mr. Daniel of “Mr. Daniel Sings.” The event also offered free caricature art and Kona Ice, and attendees were welcome to register for (or renew) their library cards.

Library Card Sign-Up Month takes place every September and is a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to encourage reading and taking advantage of all that your library card has to offer.

“We’re thrilled to offer events for our community to celebrate the power of having a library card,” HEPL Director of Marketing and Communications Kelsey Sweet said. “A library card gives patrons access to much more than most realize. Books, technology, a seed library, maker space, programs of all types, meeting rooms, board games, yard games, and so much more. And the best part – it’s free!”

HEPL will offer another opportunity to celebrate at a “Party in the Plaza” event later this month. On Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon, the community is invited to the Fishers Library. More information can be found at hamiltoneastpl.org.
