Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) will soon bring “Welcoming Week” to the Fishers and Noblesville Libraries from Sept. 13 to 22, in a movement led by nonprofit “Welcoming America.”
Welcoming America is an organization that encourages U.S. cities, counties, states, and non-profit organizations to bring together both native-born and immigrant communities. During Welcoming Week, HEPL will celebrate these communities and the ways HEPL’s mission, vision, and guiding principles are put into practice year-round. Everyone is invited to join for cultural and civic programming, and more, during Welcoming Week.
“We are so excited to offer our first ever Welcoming Week at Hamilton East Public Library!” HEPL Director of Public Services Amber Wright said. “Welcoming Week aligns wonderfully with our vision of being ‘a connected library in a connected community.’ Fishers and Noblesville have new and long-established residents with global backgrounds, and while we offer year-round services and resources to meet the needs of our patrons, we want to take this time especially to celebrate our neighbors from all around the world who make up our vibrant communities. We are starting with several engaging events this first year and look forward to seeing Welcoming Week grow and evolve with additional programs and partnerships in the future.”

- Venezuelan History, Culture, and Migration (Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Noblesville Library)
- Bollywood Dance and Culture with Teaching Artist Usha Sirimalle (Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Fishers Library)
- Paper Picado Banner with Teaching Artist Beatriz Vasquez (Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Ignite Studio at the Fishers Library)
