Plawecki in Mets’ Opening Day starting lineup

Westfield and Purdue star Kevin Plawecki will be in the lineup for the New York Mets as the 2018 Major League Baseball season begins today.
Plawecki, 27, will catch for Jacob DeGrom as the Mets host the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field. The first pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. Plawecki is slated to bat seventh in the lineup.
This will be the fourth year in the majors for Plawecki. He played in 37 games last season, and put up decent numbers. Plawecki batted .260, batting in 13 runs and hitting three home runs.
The Cardinals-Mets game will be the second of the day. The first is the Chicago Cubs at Miami, with a first pitch scheduled there at 12:40 p.m.
