Saxophonist B. Thompson to share stories of music industry journey

Before you see B. Thompson live performing at the Carmel Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) show at Jazz Fest, join him as he hosts a workshop where he will share some of his experiences learning his craft and creating his music.

The workshop will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 in the Robert Adam Room at The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel. The workshop is free, but registration is required at this link.

The show will take place that evening at 6:30 p.m. in the main hall of The Palladium. Ticket prices vary; purchase yours at this link.

Thompson will discuss a wide range of topics, such as how he got into the industry and the process of getting music produced, how he learned music by ear, and some specifics about his saxophone setup. This will be valuable to musicians of all abilities and people who are curious about various aspects of the creative process.

“Sharing stories of our musical journeys inspires others to see how they might succeed as well,” CSO Executive Director Anne Marie Chastain said. “That is why we are so grateful that B. Thompson has agreed to set aside some time to talk about his experiences and expertise in such a relaxed setting that allows for direct interaction.”

Attending the workshop will make the show that much more enjoyable as you will better understand what inspires Thompson and see how he puts his techniques into action on the stage.
