The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) recently announced that Blake Dye has been selected by the IHA Board of Directors to serve as interim president of the association effective Monday, May 20.

“Blake is a visionary leader whose passion for health care aligns seamlessly with IHA’s mission,” said Steve Holman, chair of the IHA Board of Directors and president and CEO of Union Health. “As we begin the search for our next leader, I have every confidence that Blake will guide the association with a steady hand and amplify our efforts to advance Indiana’s health care system.”
In addition to serving as chair of the IHA Board of Directors in 2010, Dye brings decades of experience in hospital administration across a broad range of health care facilities. He began his career at Henry Community Health, where he served 31 years in various roles, including more than a decade as president and CEO. He later served as president of St. Vincent Heart Center and as senior vice president at IU Health where he retired in 2022.

Dye earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration and his Master of Health Administration from Indiana University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a former member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board, and previously served on the Executive Committee of the Suburban Health Organization Board of Directors. In 2016, he was appointed by then-Governor Pence to the Executive Board of the Indiana State Department of Health, where he was reappointed by Governor Holcomb and served a six-year term. In 2004, he was honored by the American College of Healthcare Executives with the prestigious Regent Senior Executive Award.
Dye succeeds Brian Tabor, who recently informed the Board of his intention to step down from his role as president after 16 years of leadership.
“I simply cannot say enough good things about Blake as a person and a leader and it is an honor to be followed by him,” Tabor said. “Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the association and I am looking forward to supporting Blake in any way I can over the coming weeks.”
The IHA Board of Directors has engaged a national search firm to recruit the next president of the trade association which represents over 170 Indiana hospitals.
