The Purduettes will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Cornerstone Lutheran Christian Church, 13450 E. 116th St., Fishers. For six members of this group, it is Hamilton County homecoming.

Known for a polished and professional look and style, the Purduettes consistently showcase the considerable musical talents of the 50-60 vocalists through full ensemble selections as well as small groups and solo presentations.

“When both our kids attended HSE Schools we didn’t know that there would be performing arts that they could participate in college as an extra-curricular activity,” Cindy Straut, mother of one of the performers, told The Reporter. “We are very thankful that a friend told us about the Purduettes when our daughter was a junior in high school so we could look into it more. Purdue Musical Organization offers amazing performance, networking, leadership, travel and scholarship opportunities. We would highly recommend that any student that enjoys performing look into something similar to this no matter which college they may be attending in the future.”

Straut is working to promote the performance and is looking for community sponsors to help make this event a success.

There are six members of the group that are from the Fishers community. Two are Hamilton Southeastern High School graduates: Ashley Straut and Kylee Switzer. Three are Fishers High School graduates: Casie Blair, Caroline Shanley and Caroline Gruver. Another is from Heritage Christian High School: Zane Wright, the drummer for the group.

“Our daughter, Ashley, graduated from HSEHS, and attended the district since she was in first grade,” Straut said. “She is now a senior in this group so this is her home show celebrating her four years performing in the group. To my knowledge the Purduettes haven’t performed in this area before so it is such a privilege to have them come.”

At the April 14 event there will be special guest performances by the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and the Fishers Community Chorus during the show.

Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Indianapolis Children’s Choir.
