James “Jim” Robert Stuart

February 20, 1941 – March 6, 2018

James “Jim” Robert Stuart, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville on March 6, 2018 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Charlotte (Wood) Stuart and his sister Deborah Stuart Shelburne.

Born February 20, 1941 to Robert and Charlotte Stuart, Jim was raised in Hortonville, Ind. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1959 and studied at Purdue University. Jim married his high school sweetheart Nancy Sue (Waters) Stuart on July 24, 1961. Jim worked in electrical and controls engineering for Indiana Bell, American Monitor Corp., Frakes’ Engineering, and Farm Fans, and he retired from Beck’s Superior Hybrids in 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sister, Mary Sue Stuart Riggs (Jim); four children, Albert Stuart (Regina Rapier), Robert Stuart (Melissa),Timothy Stuart (Shannon) and Sarah Stuart; fourteen grandchildren, Samantha Stuart, Brandon Stuart (Kalyn Burns), Tyler Stuart, Siera Stuart, Josephine Collier, Carly Stuart, Jackson Stuart, Elias Collier, Peyton Perrin, Caleb Stuart, Daniel Collier, Charlotte Stuart, Olivia Grubb and Alex Grubb; and two great-grandchildren, Keegan Stuart and Trey Wilhoite.

Above all, Jim loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, robots, model airplanes, remote control cars and taking photos – especially of his grandkids. He was an avid cyclist who participated in the Bloomington Hilly Hundred and commuted to work from Sheridan to Castleton on his bike. He was an accomplished trap shooter who won several trophies and enjoyed games of all kinds including euchre, solitaire, poker and chess. He was a proud grandfather who attended soccer, football, baseball, basketball, band, choir, theater and dance recitals. Other hobbies included hiking and roasting his own coffee beans. Jim will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, Elvis impersonations and as being the smartest guy in the room.

Friends and family are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating Jim’s life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Freedom Church, 1361 Christian Ave., Noblesville. Visitation and fellowship will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and a celebration of life service will begin at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GoFundMe account to assist with Jim’s final medical and funeral expenses at gofundme.com/jim-stuart-final-care-expenses.
