December 31, 1920 – March 1, 2018
Anna Simmons Davis, 97, Noblesville passed peacefully on March 1, 2018 after a full and well-lived life. She was the wife of the late Thomas Leslie Davis and mother of three boys; John, Mark and Keith, who are still absorbing her lessons about what is and isn’t important in life and family matters.
Born Anna Margaret Simmons in the Irvington neighborhood of Indianapolis on December 31, 1920 to Noah and Oran Pearl Simmons, she grew up with her brothers Noah and George in challenging, even historic, times.
Prior to her marriage to Tom Davis in 1947 she worked as a secretary at Eli Lilly and Co. and enjoyed attending USO dances at Fort Harrison. Except for a brief period in the 1950s she always lived in the Indianapolis area. She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend. She also had a gift for keeping things organized, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion. No one appreciated or benefited more from that gift than her husband Tom who aptly noted that if Anna Davis had planned the D-Day invasion it would have come off far more smoothly. Her propensity for planning extended to her final arrangements as well.
At her request there will be no funeral services or visitation, and no guidance with respect to any donations in her memory.
Anna is survived by her three sons, six grandchildren – Leslie, Bret, Jack, Thomas, Isaac and Joanna – and four great-grandchildren – Edward, Colton, Wyatt and Clara. She loved her family and friends and was well loved in return and will be long and fondly remembered. She deeply appreciated the love and attention she received from her care-giving team, and her family shares that appreciation.
Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Chimes Chapel.
