Hamilton Southeastern won an all-county contest with Carmel on Friday, 45-39 at the Royals’ gym.
The Royals jumped out to an 11-7 lead during the first quarter, including five points for Braeden Totten. The Greyhounds cut that advantage to 14-12 by the end of the period; Evan Harrell scored six points for Carmel. Southeastern led 27-25 at halftime, with Donovan Hamilton hitting two 3-pointers for the Royals and Alex Couto making a pair of triples for the ‘Hounds.
The game slowed down in the third quarter, but Southeastern was able to add to its lead, going up 35-31 at the end of the third. The Royals scored another 10 in the fourth to clinch the win.
Totten finished the game with 12 points, while Hamilton scored 11. Kameron Anthony went 4-for-4 from the field to score eight points. Nathaniel Orr led the rebounds with seven, followed by Hamilton and Michael Griffith with six each. Orr handed out four assists, Totten made four steals and Hamilton blocked three shots.
Harrell scored 11 points for Carmel, with Couto making three 3s for nine points. Mitchell Mulloy had five rebounds.
The Royals are 14-6 and play at Southport tonight. The Greyhounds are 9-10 and play Tuesday at Brebeuf Jesuit.
