James Benton Williams

July 12, 1923 – February 20, 2018

James Benton Williams, 94, Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 12, 1923 to Alonzo Reuel and Celma (Powell) Williams in Van Alstyne, Texas.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army, fighting under General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as an office manager for Quaker Oats, which later became Allied Mills. James was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing and watching golf and fishing. A lover of nature, he also enjoyed yard work, woodworking and feeding and watching birds. Most of all, James loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Williams; son, James Morris (Diane) Williams; daughter, Patrice (Ray) Lyttle; granddaughter, Jill (Michael) Haenning; grandson, Jeffrey (Janae) Lyttle; and great-granddaughters, Danielle Haenning, Nora Haenning and Marissa Lyttle.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Williams.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, with visitation one hour prior. Phyllis Hunter will officiate.
