After a long illness, Darrell J. Griffin, 76, Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born on May 29, 1941 to Frank and Miriam Griffin in Indianapolis.
Darrell and his wife of 57 years, Cora, enjoyed traveling on their Gold Wing motorcycle in all 48 states, and he chartered and served as director of the Hamilton County chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. for five years.
In earlier years, Darrell also participated in Delco Remy bowling, softball and golf leagues, being on the 1992 championship golf team. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and all types of racing, especially NASCAR and Indy car. Darrell was also a member of the Clarksville-Noblesville Chapter 57 F.&A.M. Masonic lodge as well as the Scottish Rite.
Retiring from GM Delco Remy in 1996, he and Cora became snowbirds and eventual full-time residents of Lake Wales, Florida for a total of 16 years, moving back to Indiana in 2013 permanently due to health issues.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; a son, Tom (Andy) Griffin, (Jeani), their sons Justin and Evan and great-daughter June Isabella of Miamisburg, Ohio; a daughter, Tamara Roudebush (Dennis) of Noblesville and their daughter, Hannah Faldetta, (Ken) of Louisiana and son, Samuel; a brother, Gerry Griffin (Patty), of Tipton; two half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Graveside services will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis at a later date.
