When we mark our calendars for the first days of November and as we approach Thanksgiving, we immediately begin to think about what we have to be grateful for this year.

Sheridan Youth Assistance Program (SYAP) is no different. We have had a bountiful year in creating tutoring programs for our students, building family relationships, our mentoring program continues to excel, and we continue to gain community and business partners. We are humbled and grateful to be able to continue to offer assistance to our families in the Sheridan community because of the generosity of our constituents.

As we think of a few of our most recent donations, we want to share some great news and provide a sincere thank you to the following business entities:

Meijer 319 of Westfield recently donated $10,000 for two of SYAP meal programs: 1) Holiday Assistance, which is a program providing food-only gift cards at Christmas to ensure qualifying families can purchase food for a memorable holiday meal; and 2) Summer Meals, which provides food boxes throughout the summer to students transported to the Boys and Girls Club each day during break.

Serve Noblesville and Temperature Service, a trusted HVAC company known for its commitment to excellence, recently reached out to SYAP.

“Acknowledging the shared responsibility we have for our community, the team at Temperature Service was happy to provide a furnace and its installation to a local family in need,” Owner and President Michael White said. “It’s a simple gesture in the grand scheme of things, but it’s our way of contributing to the warmth and well-being of our neighbors. We are in this together, and it’s essential that we look out for one another.”

The recipient of this new furnace is beyond grateful for the warmth provided in their home as winter approaches.

The Duke Energy Foundation provided a $4,000 grant to assist and support families as students return to school in August of each year. Our Back-to-School Supplies Program supported over 200 students this past summer by providing book bags, school supplies, shoes, and sometimes a new haircut to help them successfully begin their school year. Without this financial support, SYAP would not have been able to provide the level of assistance we believe is important for our students.

To say we are grateful for our ongoing partnerships is really an understatement. So simply stated, thank you, we appreciate you, and we are so happy to be in this together as SYAPs strives to make a difference to our families in need.
