Dear Editor:
My name is Christina (Chris) Miller and I am announcing my candidacy for reelection to the office of Jackson Township Trustee. My husband, Rusty, and I enjoy living in Cicero and being involved in the community. I serve as a board member of Hope Clinic and I was named Republican Woman of the Year in 2017. Rusty and I both volunteer for several organizations and are members of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
This May 8 I ask for your vote to continue the goals of making Jackson Township professional, organized and – most importantly – safer for everyone.
The Jackson Township Trustee’s office has updated business systems including a new phone system, emergency line and cloud back up for records. Communication has vastly improved to include a website loaded with solid information and updated regularly to include online viewing of minutes from board meetings as well as an online calendar. We have a presence on Facebook that includes job postings and up-to-date information. We also have a Twitter account followed by many.
The Jackson Township Fire Department’s motto is “Our Family serving Your Family.” That motto is revealed every day. Through the leadership of Chief Muszar, the department continues to improve.
Since my first term began in 2011, Jackson Township has grown from three full-time firefighter/EMTs to nine, four of whom are also paramedics. We will soon have two Advance Life Support ambulances in service. Prior to my taking office there were no paramedics and, quite frankly, an ambulance that literally died as it drove down the road.
Two major additions to our emergency services are the Lucas Device that performs CPR, freeing up manpower to maximize patient care, and an autoload system for the ambulance to help load patients safely with less need for manpower, which reduces the chance our emergency crews will suffer an injury while lifting patients into an ambulance.
We offer Commitment to Food Rescue from Hamilton Heights Schools, picking up food from the school and delivering to local Food Pantries. The Township works closely with Hamilton Heights Youth Assistance, Local Churches, St. Vincent de Paul, Work One and many other community organizations. An office computer is available for taxpayer use, helping those in need to find resources, retrieve documents needed to apply for assistance and apply for jobs.
When re-elected I promise to continue to serve the citizens of Jackson Township with sound business decisions and passion for community service.
Thank you for your vote this Primary Election.
Christina (Chris) Miller
