Westfield Youth Sports continues to grow, hires executive director

Molly Wright

Molly Wright becomes first Executive Director of WYSI

As Westfield continues to grow at a rapid rate, so does the demand for youth sports in the city. Currently managed by a volunteer board of directors, Westfield Youth Sports (WYSI) is hiring its first full-time employee. Molly Wright has been named as WYSI’s Executive Director. Wright will begin her new role on Oct. 1.

As Executive Director, Wright will support the board of directors and oversee the day-to-day operations of WYSI, including strategic planning, program development, and fundraising. She will also work to build and maintain relationships with community partners and ensure that WYSI is providing the best possible experience for its athletes, families, and volunteers.

“We’re growing at a pace that has made it increasingly challenging for volunteers to manage without full-time support,” said John Moore, President of the WYSI Board of Directors. “Molly’s wealth of experience in sports management, youth development, and nonprofit leadership make her a perfect fit for this role. She is passionate about providing all youth with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreation, and we are confident that she will lead WYSI to new heights.”

Wright has more than 20 years of experience in the sports industry, including roles in sports marketing, event management, and youth sports development. She most recently served as the Senior Director of Youth Programming for the Indiana Sports Corp where she oversaw youth programs for events in Indianapolis including the Big Ten Football Championship Game, Big Ten Basketball Tournaments, NCAA events and Olympic Trials.

“I am honored to be selected as the first Executive Director of Westfield Youth Sports,” Wright said. “I am passionate about sports and recreation, and I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to participate in activities that they enjoy. I am committed to working with the WYSI Board of Directors and volunteers to provide high-quality programs and experiences for all of our athletes.”

Wright holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Butler University. She is a member of WIMS PTO and has served on the WYSI Board for three years. She has also coached her kids in various sports. Wright resides in Westfield with her husband and their five kids all of whom play sports.
