The Hamilton Heights girls swim team defended its Hoosier Conference championship on Saturday at Purdue University’s Morgan Burke Aquatic Center.
The Huskies won with 378 points, nicely ahead of runner-up Rensselaer Central’s 324. Heights won five events, including a new conference time of 1:53.17 in the medley relay. Rachel Sanqunetti, Emily Lester, Claire Sloderbeck and Tara Holder were the relay swimmers.
Sanqunetti also won the 200 freestyle, while Holder and Ryleigh Poe finished 1-2 in the 500 free. Jordyn Feiwell placed first in diving, where the Huskies got three of the top four finishes: Bailey Haworth was third and Caitlin Coy took fourth. Heights finished the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, swam by Sloderbeck, Holder, Poe and Sanqunetti.
The Huskies boys team tied for seventh place with 136 points. Jared Holder was a double winner, taking the 50 free and backstroke races. Lee Martin finished fourth in diving.
